An educational visit was organized for M.Sc. Biotechnology Semester 1 & 3 students by Department of Biotechnology, CCT Landran to Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) Chandigarh. Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. 50 students of M.Sc. along with 2 faculty members visited to Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) Chandigarh, on Tuesday 26th Sept, 2017. Students got an opportunity to visit Biochemical Engineering Research and Processed Development centre. Students learned Fermentation from Laboratory scale to Pilot Scale. Then they visited Microbial type culture collection (MTCC) Unit where they learnt the preparation and preservation of cultures by lyophilisation and Liquid nitrogen technique.
